act3 was created in response to two significant forces that are changing the work landscape:
- Individuals are "retiring retirement". Longer life expectancies, the need for sustained professional fulfillment and - more recently - the global recession have all compounded to change the way our mature workers view their future
- Organisations are becoming more intensely aware of the implications of their ageing workforces - and the risks associated with the departure of critical skills and knowledge if they don't improve the way they engage and retain mature talent.
However, we believed that not enough was being done:
- Individuals weren't strategically planning their life and career. Many weren't comfortable in declaring an interest in life/career transition to their employer for fear of the message that might send - often feeling compelled to leave to find what they want
- Organisations, while identifying the need to retain mature talent, weren't actively engaging with them in a meaningful way

In response, we developed act3 Planning as a practical and innovative means to help:
- Individuals take control of their future life and career - based on a plan that has been developed in the context of their broader personal, professional and financial drivers and aspirations
- Organisations engage with mature talent in a way that tangibly helps them and generates insights that can be used to develop HR strategies that address the needs and aspirations of mature critical talent
